DOES SOLID SURFACE COST MORE?

Shield Casework is a high value product that offers a cost savings to purchasers. While the initial purchase price may be higher than some casework options, the lifetime warranty, low maintenance and ability to be renewed throughout its life make Shield Casework a great investment. It will never rust or delaminate, and nicks, stains and scratches can be removed. WHAT IF I DAMAGE THE CASEWORK?

Shield Casework is repairable. No matter the nick, stain or scratch, Shield Casework can be restored to its original state by a certified professional.

WHAT DOES MY WARRANTY COVER?

Shield Casework offers an unmatched, industry-leading lifetime warranty. We will repair or replace our product, free of charge, if it fails due to any manufacturing defect after installation.

DOES SHIELD CASEWORK HAVE SEAMS?

Shield Casework’s patented solid surface construction has very few joints and those that exists are chemically welded. Properly cleaned, Shield has no cracks or seams where contaminants might seep in.

CAN I HAVE A CABINET WITHOUT A BASE FOR INFECTION CONTROL?

Yes. Shield Casework is committed to meeting the needs of the healthcare industry, and our modular designs are fully customizable.

IS YOUR CASEWORK MOBILE?

Shield Casework’s standard is modular, meaning you can order the exact cabinets you want to fit your space. They are not mobile on a day-to-day basis, but they can be taken from one area and installed in another due to the flexibility of modular design. If you require a mobile solution, our team is happy to accommodate your specific needs.

WHERE IS IT MADE?

Shield Casework is made in the USA. Manufactured in America, the solid surface material that our casework is made from is LG Hausys HI-MACS. Shield Casework itself is fabricated at our warehouse just outside Kansas City.

WHAT COLORS ARE AVAILABLE?

Shield Casework comes in eight beautiful finishes that complement any design. The Wedge line also offers unlimited options for pairing hardwood and laminate doors with Shield’s signature solid surface, adding even more possibilities for designers.

WILL SHIELD CASEWORK STAIN?

The properties of the LG HI-MACS material Shield is fabricated from allows our products to withstand most everyday stains. Shield Casework is also nonporous and microbial-resistant and will not promote the growth of mold, bacteria or viruses. Normal cleaning requires only a mild cleanser or disinfectant. IS THERE ANY SPECIAL CARE NEEDED FOR SHIELD CASEWORK?

No. Since it is nonporous, Shield Casework does not require any wax or sealant.

DO DARK COLORS SHOW WEAR AND TEAR?

With nine different finishes for you to choose from, it’s true that not all of the colors react to use in the same ways. Some colors may require more frequent cleaning to maintain a uniform finish. For instance, darker colors tend to require more attention than lighter colors. Under ordinary use, darker colors will show dust, fingerprints and other daily use more readily than lighter colors.

HOW MUCH HEAT CAN SHIELD CASEWORK TAKE?

Shield’s solid surface material is Class 1(A) fire rated and can withstand temperatures up to 225 degrees. However, prolonged or extreme heat can cause yellowing in some colors.

HOW MUCH WEIGHT CAN IT HOLD?

100-percent solid surface construction makes Shield incredibly strong. In our tests, a single solid surface shelf has held more than 200 pounds with minimal bowing over the course of several hours.

Our Curve line features 100-percent solid surface construction, and the Cube and Wedge lines offer it as a upgrade. All of our products have a solid surface frame, which is what all hanging cleats and connections are drilled into, giving you the full strength of our solid surface fabrication in every piece.

IS IT AN ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PRODUCT?

Shield Casework is committed to providing environmentally conscious materials that meet the needs of healthcare facilities, designers and patients. All solid surface is renewable throughout its use and can be recycled when at the end of its life.

Made from high quality acrylic ingredients, Shield Casework’s solid surface composition is GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified for low emissions and it meets several LEED qualifications.

Material manufacturer LG Hausys installed state-of-the-art air quality control equipment at its U.S. plant, so air treatment systems exceed environmental minimums established by the U.S. EPA. LG also offers an Eco Tier of colors that have 41 percent recycled content.
