Modular, Hygienic Housing for our Homeless
Durable, prefabricated and microbial-resistant system grants an innovative solution for local cities.
Shield is proud to announce a partnership with Perkins & Will to design and build DOME — a unitized system specifically created for interim and emergency housing. Prefabricated and modular in design, DOME includes a bed with storage, a lockable wardrobe, partitions, interior lighting, outlets and a fabric canopy for privacy and safety.
“For one of the wealthiest nations in the world, the U.S. continues to face a growing, socioeconomic gap in housing availability. Not only is DOME affordable, durable and mobile, it provides the ability to re-educate and re-establish the fundamentals of protected living for this underserved community.”

DOME is specifically designed for people without housing or requiring transitional facilities. Built for interior use and ADA compliance, these pods are scaled to fit a predetermined area and have the ability to be disassembled and moved. The microbial-resistant, solid surface material that DOME is composed of is sanitary and easily cleaned, providing individuals the peace of mind and sanitation they deserve. DOME's innovative design has been featured in several publications both in the US and worldwide.
“DOME is the solution for providing the protection our homeless population deserves. More importantly, it is restoring a sense of humanity and self-worth to individuals who have spent time without a roof over their heads. This will be a vital tool for local governments and municipalities looking to address this issue in their cities.”
