SHIELD x Nor-Lea Hospital District
In 2021, The Nor-Lea Hospital District began looking into revamping their emergency department in order to create a more modern and comfortable aesthetic for patients. While looking through many options, Shield was brought in as an affordable yet high quality possibility with a focus on 100% solid surface fabrication.
In collaboration with the architectural design firms Robins & Morton and Hartman & Majewski, a multitude of high density casework was designed as well as storage and a sink base that would fit with the goals of the project. With the finished project, Nor-Lea was able to revitalize their emergency department with casework that improved hospital flow while putting more of a focus on patients and their wellbeing.
Emergency Department
After functioning for many years with older casework and furniture, Nor-Lea was looking to bring a fresh feel to their emergency department that would be useful for both staff and patients in the everyday workings of their facility. Though there were many options explored, Shield became a heavy consideration with the standouts of 100% acrylic solid surface fabrication that allows for easy cleanability, durability and increased microbial resistance.
With different sizes of rooms being outfitted, the option to customize builds and add-on features easily was another point that allowed the collaboration to move forward smoothly. Within an emergency department patients are constantly coming in and out, meaning the amount of supplies that will be necessary day to day is always fluctuating. The increased storage would bring even more convenience and stability to a department that was already functioning well.
Included within the cabinet casework was a pegasus storage system which allowed for flexibility of what could be stored as well as how much weight could be held within the components.
